The multifaceted culture and history of Nara City has had a huge influence on Japan’s emotional climate and on the arts.
From traditional nihonga paintings featuring religious motifs to new interpretations on the theme of prayer, this exhibition celebrates this history and culture through the paintings, calligraphy, and ceramics of Kousho Shimizu, Ikuo Hirayama, and Kenkichi Sugimoto. Over 200 pieces are on display.
