The ceramic arts have a long and rich history dating back 3,500 years in China and 5,000 years in Egypt. This exhibition looks at the processes of creating ceramics with a focus on glazes and the variety of colors they produce, introducing their history and unique characteristic through both the museum’s ancient ceramics and works from contemporary collections. Along with analyses of the chemical properties of glazes, easy-to-understanding explanations of the processes used to create them offer in-depth understanding.
