Galerie Ashiya Schule presents Makoto Kumagai, Jun Koshino and Akiko Horio’s group show titled “Beyond Time.”
Makoto Kumagai has created his works by making prints, oil paintings, and sculptures. In late years, he chooses a shed, clothes, and diary which his late father left, as subjects. He produces his works by carefully tracing a memory of his father and it is an act of contemplating the past and the present. Jun Koshino has looked for his own path with a theme of a picture with a simple color. He creates works which trim concrete form until it can just be mistaken as a lump of color.
Akiko Horio has been creating works for a long time from the 1960s and produces flat and solid pieces of art consisting of minimum elements. All work titles are “untitled works” and the thought of transcending time is embodied in their works.
The works of these three artists contain a static world that deviates from everyday life.
