The Nara Prefectural Complex of Manyo Culture opened 15 years ago in Asukamura, Nara Prefecture as a place to bring together the Manyoshu collection of classical poetry and other artifacts of ancient culture. Artists and collectors have since donated many precious works, and the museum now holds more than 800 items preserved carefully along with Manyo Nihonga paintings. The latest New Additions exhibition features around 90 works including Manyo ceramic dolls and Kanbu Omata’s “Manyoshu Gasen” paintings, with a focus on works donated to the museum in fiscal year 2015.
