This event has ended.

Izushi-yaki is a pottery center located in the castle town of Izushi on the Japan Sea side of Hyogo Prefecture (Izushi-cho, Toyooka-shi). The production of pottery here began near the end of the Edo period. While Izushi pottery is now known for its finely detailed white porcelain, the main products during the Edo period were porcelain wares for everyday use called sometsuke that featured blue paintings on a white background. This exhibition introduces the history of Izushi pottery, which is interwoven with the traditional ways of life of the people in the Tanba region.
