With the collaboration of leading Kyoto ‘Gosho Ningyo’ doll creator Koen Shimada, this exhibition presents traditional games, toys and Japanese ‘wagashi’ confectionary that is created for the Puppet Festival on March 3, in search of the form and meaning behind the traditional HIna Matsuri Festival, which continues to this day. In addition, Nihonga painting students from the Kyoto University of Art and Design present their modern ‘kai-awase’, or shell-joining game creations.
