Some independently made videos have no stories, others are initially hard to understand. The possibilities are endless, and new images are constantly coming into the world. Chances to experience such genre-crossing variations are few and far between, however. The Kyoto-based Video Party, started in 2013, screens independent works submitted by the public. From dramas to animations, to experimental films and documentaries, their settings, locations, and genres all differ. Lumen Gallery, a video-focused space opened in July 2015, presents this year’s Video Party.
