This event has ended.

The landscapes of Kyoto were planned with an awareness of the aesthetics of space and have been preserved amid the changing tastes of each generation. This passion for passing down this legacy to future generations is one of the city’s many charms. There are streets and neighborhoods being lost, however, and not only to the demands of convenience and streamlining. There is a sense of beauty in contemplating how the people of a town can live comfortably each day while cultivating a landscape that links the hearts and minds of people of the past, present, and future. In this exhibition, artist Yasuhiko Sugimori portrays the beauty of this Kyoto aesthetic through three themes: “the soul’s eye,” “the moment,” and “color.”
