This event has ended.

Born in 1975 in Buenos Aires, Federico Leon is a man of many talents: theater director, filmmaker, actor, and writer. His work has generated excitement in his native Argentina as well as all over Europe. He first appeared at Kyoto Experiment in 2010, where his deft combination of performance and video with three sets of actors of different ages invited audiences to witness an enchanting glimpse into the memories of a single human life.
This time he presents Las Ideas (The Ideas), which investigates the process of creating art through all its trials and tribulations that unfold as a soliloquy in the mind of the artist. On stage there is only a table tennis table, made to resemble a work desk, and a MacBook.
Leon and his collaborator work on a new theater piece in his studio. They watch videos of past performances on his computer; they brainstorm and review ideas. This process is recorded in real time, repeatedly turning stories from their lives into ideas for the performance as their brisk discussion descends comically into disarray.
Exploring universal themes of the inner mind of the artist and the mystical process of creating art, this multifaceted work develops like the to and fro of a table tennis game rally. The audience peeps into the mind of the artist, becoming immersed in the ideas and penetrating to the essence of performance and the medium.
