Four hundred years ago porcelain-making techniques were imported from the Asian mainland to Japan, and ceramics have played an intimate role in the lives of the Japanese ever since. Presenting sake cups, tea ware, flower vases, and other works of pottery, this exhibition explores the culture that produced ceramics, the meanings of its beautiful designs, and its roots in China.
