Tomoko Arakawa creates unusually shaped works referencing the objects of worship in early religions. For the “Bakemono” exhibition at the Aomori Museum of Art in August, 2015, she presented simple, round creations blending elements of humor and eroticism. These works were presented along with religious items and amulets, but held their own in terms of spiritual power. This is Arakawa’s first exhibition of 2016.
