Filters put motifs and images through the sieve of ideas. They are also attempts to condense images and heighten their resolutions. The act of applying filters to ideas or creative processes can be called a modest rebellion, one aimed at gauging distances between a work and oneself and oneself and the world in this age of information overload. Two new artists take the “filter” as their key concept in these resonating works.
