Akiko Yamahara creates original landscape scenes with light colors and a unique eye for collaging. Her subjects include Demachiyanagi and Arashiyama in Kyoto, as well as places familiar to her. In addition to painting, her collaging techniques include the use of clothes and sponges, imbuing the canvas with rhythm and a sense of life. She creates wholly original worlds where multiple temporal axes exist in the same space.
