Yasuhiko Sugimori’s paintings of Kyoto’s beautiful landscapes imbue their canvases with the colors of these moments of emotion. Even as he explores new media and painterly expressions, Sugimori’s work remains rooted in a classical style focused on the “eye of the soul,” “the moment,” and “color.”
