This event has ended.

Yasuhiro Kiyota and Keisuke Jinba were both born in 1985 and after graduating from art universities in Kyoto, have been based in Kyoto since. The artistic practices of these two painters respond to the question: “Why painting now?” The works of both embody extremely intimate and personal senses: impressions received from certain words or concepts, or personal attachments to things that the artist has been using daily. Through the time spent on paintings, their body sensations get interwoven and thus their works develop into something that paintings can only be. To best describe such paintings, the expression “Flesh and Veil” is used in this exhibition.
Flesh is not presented as it is. What exists inside them is layered onto the canvas or is placed underneath a transparent surface. Flesh itself becomes “Veil” and forms layers, or “Veil” covers flesh.
