Together with a network of 15 Kyoto university-affiliated museums, Kyoto University of Art and Design’s Artzone and Kyoto City University of Arts @KCUA Gallery take the next step with the second annual installment of “On the Way to the Future,” Kyoto Institute of Technology Museum and Archives’s project supporting the growth of young artists.

Artzone presents installation art by Nihonga painter Itsuha Seno, printmakers Yuki Kawamata and Takami Kusumoto, and lacquerware artist Naomi Yoshioka, four artists established in their genres now tackling new methods of expression with fresh themes, motifs, and concepts. By letting go of their usual means of creation, they free themselves up to expedient new ways of producing works that overturn their unconscious approaches and illuminate their uniqueness as artists. See how they are each progressing on their respective paths to the future.
