Genji in Ukiyo-e
Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum - Museum of Osaka Prints
This event has ended.
An exhibition of Ukiyo-e prints and paintings produced in Osaka in the Edo period. While most Ukiyo-e paintings made in Osaka were portraits of Kabuki actors in Osaka theatres around Dotombori, this show focuses on kabuki plays related to the Genji clan. Enjoy the Ukiyo-e prints and paintings of the Genpei War (conflict between the Genji and Taira clans) and the paintings titled “Yoshitsune Senbon-zakura,” which were popular in the Edo period.
