Tracing the history of Yokai monsters and spirits from an art history perspective through the works of Jakuchu Ito, Hokusai Katsushika, Utamaro Kitagawa, and Kuniyoshi Utagawa, as well as in clay figurines from the Jomon era, paintings of hell from the Heian and Kamakura eras, and the currently popular Yokai Watch animation series.
