This event has ended.

The idea of repetitive motion coexists in the work of Hebime, Hidehito Matsubara, and Masakazu Fujiwara, with Fujiwara’s experience in electric engineering proving valuable to his kinetic art, whilst Hebime and Matsubara’s production rely on mechanical processes. Hebime’s work consists of multiple layers of acrylic paints which are then chiseled away in a style that resembles the “choushitsu” process used with carving lacquer, creating strong and memorable psychedelic patterns. Matsubara’s process is based on a Japanese paper collaging technique, layering handcoated and handtorn bits of paper to produce abstract images that carry many interpretations and therefore appeal to all five senses. Fujiwara’s work in contrast consists of simple colors and compositions, using readymade or found objects such as capsules and styrofoam to create moving objects that resemble living creatures.
