Nodoka Odawara “Statumania”
Artzone
This event has ended.
The sculptures of Nodoka Odawara explore the significance of statues, considering the thoughts on place they provoke. The title “Statumania” comes from a phrase by modern historian Maurice Agulhon referring to the proliferation of statues in cities. As statues are assigned various roles in society, they can also come to embody human attachment. New works including “↓(arrow)” modeled after a pole once placed on the spot where the atomic bomb fell in Nagasaki consider bronze and wooden statues in Japan.
