This event has ended.

In the 20th century Osaka artists such as Toshiro Maeda, Shigeru Izumi, and Hideo Yoshihara created outstanding printed works, with the Osaka-based avant-garde group Democratic Artists Association (formed in 1951) strengthening the medium of printmaking and leading its development. From 1973 to 1992 Maeda brought together artists for the “Prints 8” group exhibitions, reaffirming Osaka’s vital role in movements associated with printmaking. This exhibition presents 140 prints from the 20th century and later from the Osaka Prefectural and Osaka City collections, with a focus on works depicting Osaka scenery and other prints by artists from or with ties to Osaka.
