Introducing animation, manga, Nihonga painting, textiles, classical literary texts, and other works of art based on or inspired by the poem “Song of Love” from the Manyoshu ancient poetry collection. Animation displays include posters, illustrations, and other items from “Kotoba no Niwa” (Garden of Words), the popular 2013 animation directed by Makoto Shinkai. “Enjoying Classic Texts in Manga: Manyoshu” by research director Reiko Taki also introduces Manyoshu love poetry.
