From 1895 to 1945, Taiwan was under Japanese colonial rule. In 1937 Kōminka education, or Japanization, was enforced and ethnocide began. With footage from Taiwan and Japan, War Song and Love Song is a video work based on Taiwanese songs that were altered into Japanese military anthems under colonization.
