This event has ended.

Moomin appears as “Moomin Troll” in children’s stories written by Tove Jansson (1914-2001). The character is now known and loved by generations all over the world in comics, picture books, and animations. Three of the author’s Moomin picture books form a popular series notable for their rich colors in contrast to other black and white fairy tales and comics.

Current Moomin picture book illustrators Riina and Sami Kaarla respect the vision of the late author, whose popular works have been translated and published widely in Japan. This exhibition presents some 80 original illustrations by Mr. and Mrs. Kaarla, who bring their own unique sense of humor to original series. The production process for the series is also introduced while comparing Jansson’s picture books and images. Enjoy the expanding world of the new Moomin inspired by Jansson’s originals.
