Nara Prefectural Complex of Manyo Culture presents the works of illustrator and art director Kiyoshi Nakashima (b. 1943), known for his creative contributions to the NHK song program “Minna no Uta.” Nakashima is called an “artist of the wind” for the gentle breezes that seem to blow through his warm, brightly colored portraits of women, children, and villages. This exhibition traces his career up through “A New Wind,” his recent series started after the Great East Japan Earth quake. Other displays include a work dedicated to Kyoto’s Rokudo Chinno Temple, a series portraying idyllic villages, and “Manyo Maika” (Manyo Dancer) created especially for this exhibition.
