This event has ended.

An exhibition by ceramist Akane Saijo and painter Haruka Shima. Rhizomes are center-less intersecting lines extending and changing course in diverse directions.
Saijo and Shima use different techniques and approaches in their work while sharing “tools” as a motif and offering new interpretations of what already exists. Here Saijo presents installations of tools used by fictional Christian doctors from Nagasaki at a time when Christians were not allowed to study medicine. In her paintings Shima seeks to understand the physical dimensions of tools appearing in archival photographs through aspects of imagined touch. The two artists’ florescent paintings and sculptures are on display.
