This event has ended.
Takeji Asano was a Kansai-based woodblock printmaker who worked mainly in Kyoto after WWII. From 1931 to 1972 he produced works such as the Prints of Famous Places series depicting well-known locations and events across Japan, as well as prints of famous places in Osaka and Kyoto, and also free-form series started in the 1950s. Prints of Famous Places featured locations such as Dotonbori and Osaka Castle, which in these prints appear slightly differently than they do now. Asano’s latter series includes cute and humorous renderings of animals and people living surrounded by mountains and the sea. Enjoy the striking compositions and original perspectives of his work.
