Lacquer artist Tatsuaki Kuroda (1904-1982) was born in Kyoto, Gion, and became the first holder of an important intangible cultural property (living national treasure) in woodwork art in 1970. Exhibited are smaller pieces such as tea sets which are finished in lacquer and mother-of-pearl, and powerful larger pieces such as chairs and cabinets. This exhibition is the first retrospective show of Tatsuaki Kuroda in Kyoto, with approximately 90 works.
