Aoi Hayashi ” Traces of Voice”

The voice evokes the past and traces the time. Aoi Hayashi worked on a stage production in June 2017 and met a text called “Dictee.” “Dictee” was written by an artist, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha. Born in South Korea and escaping and living in the United States, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha recorded her exploration towards the history of her country, multiple languages and a body which transforms through living them, and her identity in a manner of a book. By encountering “Dictee”, Aoi Hayashi was fascinated by the action of searching our voice or tracing the time. By looking at the past, she could see the surroundings and herself more clearly. She saves her voice as if enclosing it in a time capsule.
