This event has ended.

Kiitsu Suzuki (1796-1858) was a painter of the Rimpa School active in the late-Edo period. While inheriting the ornate tradition of Rimpa, Kiitsu’s artistic style was characterized by vivid coloring, bold compositions, and opulent designs overflowing with a novelty that is still recognized to this day. He brought his versatility into full play, painting a variety of subjects including genre paintings, Buddhist paintings, and auspicious paintings, as well as painting on fans, kites, battledores, and votive wooden tablets. We hope you will enjoy the diversity of Suzuki’s achievements as a painter.
