This event has ended.

In 40 works from its collection, the Paramita Museum offers a glimpse into the world of ceramics artist Goro Kawamoto on the 30th anniversary of his death. Kawamoto was born into a family of ceramics dyeing artists in Seto, Aichi Precture in 1919. He studied under the Crafts Movement leader Sakuzo Hineno and went on to take an active role in the movement himself, pursuing freer expressions in forms and developing his trademark “Goro style” of hand-shaped wares. As a “Ceramics Rebel” in the post-war era he pushed away from utilitarian aspects and toward greater artistry, painting works in the inventive and uninhibited style for which he is now know.
