Artists based in Gifu prefecture, Mio Takatsu and Mio Yamaguchi create works which allow the viewer to sense a dialog between the artwork and the environment. With an appearance like the inside of a shellfish, the sculptural pieces are created through a process of applying pale gills to an initial shape, questioning the gap between the natural and the manmade.
