The Wakayama Prefectural Museum opened as a public museum managed by the Wakayama Board of Education in April 1971. The museum promotes the abundant cultural treasures found in Wakayama Prefecture through exhibitions and research. Acquisitions include resources on the Takano Kumano religion and artifacts from the Tokugawa family.

Closed on Mondays
Note:Closed 12/29-1/3. Closes at 20:00 on the 2nd and 4th Fridays in June, July and August. The museum may be closed due to installation schedules.

Adults ¥260, College Students ¥150, High School - Junior High - Elementary School Students Free, Foreign Students studying in Wakayama prefecture Free, Seniors - Physically Challenged Free. Special exhibition fees may be charged separately.
