In April 1991, the Himeji Museum of Literature opened to celebrate local literary figures, engage in research, and become a communal center of literary activities. Architect, Tadao Ando designed the museum's architecture , which is located near the Himeji castle. Highlights of the museum include the "Harima Mandara" and the nine famous writers of Harima (the Himeji area) exhibition rooms. The museum also holds special exhibits and seminars.

Closed on Mondays
Note:If Monday is a National Holiday, the museum will be open on Monday but closed the following Tuesday. Closed on days following National Holidays. Closed for the year-end holidays.

Fee

Adults ¥300, College - High School Students ¥200, Junior High - Elementary School Students ¥100, Physically Challenged Free. Special Exhibition Fees may be charged separately.
