Kobe City Koiso Memorial Museum of Art
Museum in The Kobe area
The Kobe City Koiso Memorial Museum of Art opened its doors in April 1992, in memory of local artist Ryohei Koiso. Koiso was a Kobe-based painter and left behind approximately 2,000 works of art when he died in December 1988. After his death, the family decided to donate Koiso's prints, oil paintings and sketches to the city of Kobe, along with his studio and books. The city decided to commemorate Koiso's accomplishments by building the museum.
