"Buson Yosa: Flowing Creativity" Exhibition

In the 18th century, the Kyoto school of painters including Jakuchu Itoh, Taiga Ikeno, and Oukyo Maruyama, were prominent figures in the Japanese painting field. Within this field, Buson Yosa's works were highly valued, especially with his ability to fuse poetry and art.
This exhibition explores Buson's contributions in art and poetry, along with letters to his students and friends that will provide background information on his life.

In the Chinese literati lineage, the city was a worldly, vulgar place unfit for depiction; a more appropriate subject would have been the hermitages of scholar-officials deep within mountainous nature.
