Yukiko Siozuka Exhibition
Gallery Shimada
This event has ended.
It is the summer of 2001 in Toronto and Yukiko Siozuka is fixated on a girl on the subway platform. She takes out her sketchbook and immediately begins to draw. The girl notices, and addresses her. Her younger sister acts as an interpreter. Explaining that “I wanted to draw you because you are so lovely” the girl smiles sweetly and asks “Please show me when you are finished” before returning to her original place.
Yukiko Siozuka lets her pencil run freely the very moment she wants to draw something. If she doesn’t catch it quickly, it will escape. This is how her drawings come about.
