Seiko Utsumi creates mysterious worlds in ballpoint pen that vacillate between the micro and macro. Subtle differences in the sizes of tiny circles create shading and texture in images that seem to expand and contract. Utsumi’s illustrations demonstrate that the miniature can exert a powerful pull— viewing these works takes us on a journey through the cosmic boundlessness of the artist’s inner world.
