This event has ended.

“Swiss Visual: The Present and the Past of Swiss Contemporary Photography and Video Art” is the second exhibition organized with the grant of the Nishieda foundation. It will take place in the Zuiun-an Machiya, the traditional-style house of a former money exchanger, which features a beautiful tearoom and a splendid garden situated in the Kamigamo neighborhood of Kyoto. As this year marks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Japan, both countries will hold celebrations for this important anniversary. Zuiun-an will take part with an exhibition of photography and video art. Divided in two sessions, this show will also present a selection of videos from the renowned contemporary art collection of the City of Geneva. Additionally, there will be a satellite exhibition, “Andreas Kressig: Soapscapes”, at the Hashimoto Kansetsu Garden and Museum before the facility’s renovation this fall for the 70th anniversary of the death of its namesake painter. The organizers of “Swiss Visual” hope viewers will enjoy walking through this small but intense panorama of Swiss art.
