The exhibition introduces artists from Ashiya who have explored outward for inspiration such as Ryohei Ohashi (1895-1943) and Jiro Kamiyama (1895-1945) who both studied in Paris, Yoshie Nakada (1902-1995) who absorbed Western Avant Garde through her marriage with Art Critic Jonosuke Nakada, Kanbei Hanaya (1903-1991) who toured southeast Asia and created the "Ashiya Camera Club", Jiro Yoshihara (1905-1972) who was both an abstract and realist painter, and Kumi Sugai (1919-1996) who established an art career in Paris. There will also be Russian picture books on display that Yoshihara collected in the 1930s.

(1) Exploring Russia
There will be storytelling in Russian and Japanese of the Russian picture books that are on display, accompanied by an accordion. There will also be Matryoshka dolls on display.
