This event has ended.

Satsuma ceramics originated in the late 16th century. The technique came into existence by a group of Korean ceramicists in Kagoshima prefecture. At the Paris Expo in 1867, its visuals caught the attention of many art connoisseurs. Since then, Satsuma ceramics were exported and Shippo ceramics and gold work were especially popular between the overseas population. In particular, Satsuma ceramic works in Kinkozan and Yabumeizan were known for their high quality. Even though the kilns do not exist today, Satsuma ceramics still entertain its fans throughout the world.
