Nikon International Photo Contest 2006-2007 Awarded Works Exhibition
Osaka Nikon Salon
This event has ended.
According to Michio Kariya, the president of Nikon, the purpose of the Nikon International Photo Contest, which began in 1969 and is now the largest international photo contest in the world, is to provide a place where professional and amateur photographers can come together to advance the art of photography.
The 31st contest takes "at the heart of the image" as its theme and includes a "Smile, Smile, Smile!" category as well as an open category. Over 47,000 submissions from over 135 countries were received by post and internet. There is also an award to recognize young photographers under the age of 29.
This exhibition brings together 36 winning works from these categories. The works each show a distinctive style and express the artists' thoughts. Many of the works express the state of society and humanity.
