Naoki Ishikawa "New Dimension"
Osaka Nikon Salon
This event has ended.
Naoki Ishikawa has been photographing prehistoric murals and journeys all over the world. To prehistoric hunters, the animals on the mural function not only as a motif but a resemblance of the real animal; hunters believed that hailing an animal on the mural was equivalent to hunting that animal in reality. In primitive society, there was no separation between the visible and invisible, and rocks, clay figures and murals were directly linked to animals such as deer and bears. Painting and carving animals on caves was a ritual that allowed people to enter the fourth dimension. Tens of thousands years murals marked the strong intentions and relations of ancient people to the invisible world.
Ishikawa has interacted with the primitive knowledge by standing in front of murals. Entering inside an untouched area means stepping out for exploration. The ancient murals could be a key to approaching the artist's core message. 90 color photographs.
