This event has ended.

Shokokuji, the head temple of Rinzaishu's Shokokuji sect as well as one of the five major mountains of Kyoto, was built in 1392 by Yoshimitsu Ashikaga. Since then, for over six hundred years, Shokokuji has been the home of high priests such as Myouha Shunnoku, Jousho Hourin, and Kenjo Baiso, and artists such as Shubun and Sesshu.
In addition, the temple has acquired countless art pieces from leaders such as Hideyori Toyotomi, Ieyasu Tokugawa, and others, and also through artisans who were deeply connected with the temple like Jakuchu Ito. The exhibition will introduce the temple's collection from the Muromachi, Momoyama and Edo periods. To maximize the number of works exhibited, the displayed works will be changed during the exhibition period.
