"Statues in the Fields -Taikichi Irie's Stone Buddhist Statues-" Exhibition
Irie Taikichi Memorial Museum of Photography Nara City
This event has ended.
In villages and remote areas far away from urban concentrations, stone Buddhist statues can be spotted in the landscape. Throughout the years and through rain and shine, these statues have become part of the Japanese landscape. Irie continues to aim his lens at these statues; although they seem far from sophistication, Irie has found beauty in their form. The exhibition presents about fifty works that focus on one particular area with a concentration of stone Buddhist statues. In the fast-paced world, the statues are an important reminder that there is always somewhere we can to return to.
