Keiko Tsuchiya "An Island with Cats"
Osaka Nikon Salon
This event has ended.
When visiting islands, the artist always found the boat ride to be very uncomfortable, being the only person on board who didn't belong to the island. As the island people would talk to her and guide her around, her sense of unease would turn into a feeling of comfort much like when she visits her grandmother. Islands have a nostalgic air about them, and the artist was attracted to the cats that were such a natural part of this atmosphere. Some cats are depicted lying in farmfields doing nothing while some lie in piles up against each other. 25 monochromatic photographs are on display.
