After leaving Paris, Takatoshi Fujimasa moved to a town in Wallonia, located 100 km southeast of Brussels, in Belgium. By using an ex-school building for his studio, he painted portraits of his new friends, and landscapes of the town and churches. His paintings bring out the hardship of living on limited expenses.
