Kiyoshi Hasegawa (1891-1980) crossed the ocean to go to Paris, France via the US in 1919. At age 89, he passed away in France without ever returning back to Japan.
Hasegawa mastered various printmaking techniques and produced high quality woodblock prints and etchings. He is also known for reviving a technique that was forgotten in the 20th century called "Manier Noir" (also known as the "technique of black").
In the exhibition, there will be approximately 70 works including woodblock prints, etchings, and "Manier Noir" pieces.
