Keizo Kitajima "USSR 1991"
Osaka Nikon Salon
This event has ended.
When the USSR collapsed in 1991, the artist stayed at the former country and took pictures for 150 days. When the artist first arrived, there was no telling what would happen in a few months. By taking portraits of various people, the artist thought strongly that one must not forget USSR's achievements from the last 73 years.
Compared to TV and the Internet, photographs are already seen as a "slow" medium, but its "slowness" seems to be its charm. When TV and Internet become media focused on spectacle and not remembrance, photographs supply the sense of memory that is lost.
