This event has ended.

The three Kumamo mountains, Yoshino, Omine and Takano, are guarded with steep hills, thick forests, huge rocks, big falls and cool winds. This area is where various religions such as Shinto, Buddhism, Shugendou (Japanese mountain asceticism) intermingle and create a place for sanctuary. In 2004, this location was registered as a world heritage site.
This exhibition features photographs taken at the ancient Kumano road of a pilgrimage; a place familiar to many Japanese through its historical, traditional and cultural recognition.
